Mason BEE Program

An Initiative to Safeguard and Revitalize Mason Bee Populations

Mason bees are incredible pollinators, playing a vital role in our ecosystem. Unlike honeybees, mason bees are solitary and do not produce honey, but they are powerhouses when it comes to pollination. With their gentle nature and efficient pollinating habits, these bees are crucial for maintaining healthy gardens, orchards, and natural habitats. Our Mason Bee Program is designed to support these amazing creatures by providing them with safe, sustainable homes and educating the public about their importance.

Join us in our mission to protect and nurture mason bees! We offer three levels of support through our Mason Bee Program. Your contribution helps us continue our work in conservation, education, and the sustainable growth of mason bee populations across the country.

Why Mason Bees?

Mason bees are among the most efficient pollinators in the insect world. A single mason bee can do the work of over 100 honeybees! They are especially effective at pollinating fruit trees and flowers, which makes them indispensable for farmers and gardeners alike. By supporting our Mason Bee Program, you are helping to ensure that these vital pollinators thrive and continue to support our environment.

Save The Bees USA: Learn About Mason Bees

Mason Bees are small, friendly bees that are very important for helping plants grow. These bees carry pollen between flowers, which helps fruits and vegetables grow. What’s great about Mason Bees is that they don’t sting, so kids can safely watch them while learning how they work. By learning about Mason Bees, kids can become backyard scientists and see how bees play a big part in making food like apples, blueberries, and almonds.

Kids will learn the differences between Mason Bees and honey bees. While honey bees live in large hives with a queen, Mason Bees live alone in small nests they build out of mud. In our program, kids can create mud holes to help Mason Bees build their nests. We also provide fun worksheets and videos that teach kids how these bees collect pollen, lay eggs, and protect their nests. It’s a great way to explore nature and see how pollination helps plants grow.

This program will help kids understand how important bees are for keeping our world healthy. By learning how Mason Bees and other pollinators work, kids can learn to take care of the environment and protect all kinds of bees. They’ll discover how they can help bees thrive and keep gardens, parks, and ecosystems healthy. It’s an exciting way to connect with nature and make a difference for our planet!
